wellbeing.

how hard it can be to walk into the gym for the first time and that is why BASE’s doors are

BASE coaches explain the ‘why’ behind everything you do in the gym. How certain things
can benefit your health like prioritising your sleep, hydrating and eating nutrient dense
foods. BASE coaches are against quick fixes, yo-yo dieting and torturous sessions. BASE
coaches provide top level coaching that helps clients improve their confidence in and
outside the gym. We develop clients overall strength, health and wellbeing. Our training
sessions are based on a client's fitness level, experience in the gym, medical history and
goals. Not only do we devise a gym program in the gym, we also help establish healthier
habits that are easy, sustainable and approachable for use outside of the gym. It’s the lifestyle
change you were looking for.

We love showing clients the physical and mental benefits of training that will have a long
lasting effect on their lives. We do this through research, seminars and on the gym floor
education. We break it down into bitesize learning so it’s easier for clients to understand. A

What to expect in your first personal training here at BASE?

At BASE Fitness & Health, we understand how nerve racking it can be to walk in the door for
your first personal training session. Before we even met you in person we like to break
down that barrier and show you that in BASE studio you will be in a safe, welcoming gym
that will provide you with top class coaching.


In your first personal training session you will provide your coach with a consultation form.
This form explains why you wanted to start personal training, establishes your goals, goes
over any medical conditions you might have and experience level in the gym. Your coach will
then have an understanding of what you are looking from your consultation form. Yourself
and your coach will briefly go over this screening form in person and make sure you are
comfortable in the gym. This would also be a good time to ask any questions you may have
about our services, coaching methods and how you will communicate with your coach to
help you achieve your goals.


You will then go into the gym and do a movement screening assessment. This assessment
will be personalised as well, dependant on your goals, medical conditions and injuries.
Coaches are looking for your strengths here; seeing how you move, assessing mobility &
flexibility and also seeing if you have any weaknesses. This assessment will vary from client
to client but it allows us, as coaches to understand how you physical move and how we can
help you enhance your movement patterns. There will be some laughs here and maybe
some ‘you want me to do what’ moments but we are here by your side every step of the
way. Before you know it the session will be over and you be feeling motivated, inspired and
eager to come back for more.


After the movement screening, your coach will sit down in their own time and devise a
bespoke training plan based on what they seen in the movement screening and
consultation.

We recommend for every personal training session to bring a bottle of water, a towel and
your mobile phone. We ask clients to bring their mobile not for checking up on the latest
gossip, but to be familiar with the training app we use with clients – TrueCoach.
TrueCoach will be your personalised training and nutrition diary. You will need to download
this app onto your phone and use it to communicate to your coach. Your training program,
daily habits and nutrition guidance will be here too. Clients will use this app to enter your
workout data for each workout – like the weights you will be lifting in the gym. As well as
habit tracking, for example, ticking off in your program you went out for your evening walk.
You will be able to see your upcoming workouts, nutrition guidance, see pasted results in
the gym and do online check ins with this system – its great! Don’t worry, your coach will be
explaining all of this to you in person and will also email you a guide on ‘how to use
TrueCoach’.
